Located 2 miles outside of Rye, we are perfectly located for Romney Marsh, and other attractions. We are also 20 minutes drive from the market town of Tenterden, and 35 minutes drive from Ashford, where there is an outlet mall, and of course Ashford international train station, for the Eurostar. Other cross channel services at Dover and Folkestone are 50 - 55 minutes drive away.
We have two delightful letting rooms, which are separate to the pub. The Hay Store, and Tack Room, in a converted stable block, both have;
· King sized beds, with duvets · En suite · Original oak beams · Tea and coffee making facilities · Mini bar—with the same prices as the pub · Touch on bedside lights · In room safe · High power hairdryers · Flat screen Televisions with free-view · Dogs may bring their well behaved owners
A full English breakfast is served in our dinning room, or alfresco on our patio (weather permitting) the choice is yours! Breakfast is served from 8.45am until 9.15am
Although we have many ghost stories about the inn, there haven't been any reports of ‘bumps in the night’ in the Bed and Breakfast rooms......yet!

What our previous guests have said:
September 2011 Perfect place to stay for one night after we took the Eurotunnel from France!
September 2011 A little jewel in the Kent country-side,
September 2011 A friendly welcome and introduction to the room. A good sized comfortable room in a block separate from the Inn with all the amenities that we need for our overnight stay.
August 2011 The accommodation was excellent, clean and value for money. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner John. Breakfast and dinner in the pub was first class and very reasonable. We will be visiting again at some point. We came away very relaxed.
July 2011 A gem of a place set in an idyllic surroundings June 2011 Anniversary break June 2011 Good Value June 2011 Excellent self-contained country inn accommodation, close to Rye, and ideal for short break and touring stays. Room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated, including mini-bar at reasonable prices, and supplementary heating if required. Service was friendly and attentive and food to a very good standard. Would happily stay again. May 2011 We found the accommodation Spacious, clean and comfortable and if you have a dog the garden area which the 2 letting rooms open onto is secure. May 2011 My wife and I stayed here for 1 night while visiting the local area. The rooms are great, the people friendly and the food was excellent. They also have great ales behind the bar. Highly recommended and would stay again if we are passing through. May 2011 It's a real country pub. The food is good and the garden is secluded. The room is in a separate barn so very quiet and comfortable May 2011 We found a great deal here for a last minute mid week trip, it's basically a traditional pub restaurant and traditional features with a converted barn so 2 rooms which are a great size with traditional beams, king size comfy bed, nice bathroom ensuite etc. The staff were very friendly, the food excellent and really reasonably priced especially considering the quality, the owner is the chef and makes cracking combinations of food- from traditional steak and ale pies to baked Camembert and duck with orange and blackcurrant sauce as well as probably the best desserts we have had!! There is also a good selection of wines, ales and port (the only down side was that the bar closed at 10pm midweek). The location is perfect as Iden itself is in close proximity to Rye, Camber and Winchelsea! Highly recommended! April 2011 I took my boyfriend away for a night, and from the moment we walked in, nothing was too much trouble, so polite and helpful, clean & tidy. Food, service, room - everything was really very good. The only complaint was that we were only there 1 night and not more, but are looking to rebook and stay for longer. Thank you. February 2011 Lovely English country pub-with big log fire. We were made very welcome .The room we stayed in was an original converted barn . I t was very clean /nicely decorated .with a fridge/bar. The bed was very comfortable .The bathroom /shower only -was very tastefully decorated .
February 2011 We were given a warm welcome on a cold night and the room was spacious and lovely. Checkout was simple and I wish we'd been there for longer than one night.
February 2011 The room was very cosy even though it was blowing a gale outside. The food was very good; the couple that run the inn and the B and B were outstanding.
February 2011 A very warm, friendly welcome which was maintained throughout our short stay. The room was very cosy and the bed extremely comfortable. The food was excellent pub quality and superb value for money. Although The Bell was clearly a hub for the local village community, we were able to relax peacefully by the open fire and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. It was exactly what a traditional British pub should strive to be.
February 2011 An excellent B&B. The room was in a self contained annex and was large and extremely comfortable. The pub served good ales and food. A peaceful location and a good place to relax in. Will return hopefully sometime.
December 2010 We'd booked The Bell and then Kent was blanketed in snow but we were glad we went as we were given a very warm welcome. The decor of the room, comfort (very good night's sleep) and cleanliness were very good. We didn't have breakfast as we were visiting various places nearby (Rye is great) but the evening meals we had were excellent.
November 2010 Very comfortable clean accommodation. Friendly staff. Having eaten here previously I can recommend the restaurant. Unfortunately it is not open on Mondays. Something to remember in future visits.
November 2010 We visited The Bell, Iden on one of the coldest nights of the year, an additional heater had been provided by the owners to boost the temperature of the room which was very welcome.
November 2010 On arrival we were greeted by the Landlord who was very friendly and informative. Our room was very clean and ideal for a short stay. The pub itself was very cosy with a roaring log fire and the dinner was good honest pub food.
October 2010 Would have liked to stay longer...
October 2010 Absolutely delightful....just as it looks on the website September 2010 lovely lovely place!!! August 2010 The room was spacious and comfortable with an en suite shower and toilet. It was very clean and well maintained. It had tea making facilities which were great for an early morning cuppa and the stocks of tea bags etc were replenished daily. Having our own key enabled us to come and go as we pleased and we loved the character of the room in a converted stable/barn. It is situated in a quiet little village so was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. We did not eat at the Inn but had an enjoyable drink in the quiet bar. It was perfect for our needs getting away from the hustle and bustle of London. August 2010 We were looking for a comfortable night before driving to Dover for the ferry .The welcome and the room were excellent and would recommend The bell as an excellent place to stay July 2010 Great country retreat July 2010 This was an amazing find, after being in run down B&Bs in the cities, it was a welcome break to find a place just outside a major town that has two rooms outside the pub, barn style. They have been renovated beautifully. July 2010 Absolutely lovely little pub, very tasteful and comfortable room. We were made to feel totally welcome and would highly recommend this place. July 2010 A very comfortable room in a converted hay barn containing two letting rooms separated by bathrooms. Entrance doors lead out into quiet beer garden. Garden needs a bit of sprucing up but quiet, clean and friendly. Very nice pub and good food. Thank you just right! June 2010 Loved everything about The Bell. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and very comfortable. Look forward to staying again and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. We ate 'in-house' both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed the food. June 2010 Great staff, good food, excellent location. Recommend. Darren and Amy are great hosts. May 2010 Nice pub, pretty gardens, separate rooms modern and nicely furnished. Food excellent, home cooked, just what decent pub grub should be. A good place to stay overnight on the way to Dover April 2010 We were made most welcome on our arrival and the room in a converted stable was very warm and comfortable. March 2010 I have stayed in a lot of hotels/guest houses etc across the country I would rate this little country inn as one of my favourite stay's the letting rooms are set away from the pub it's self therefore giving you the privacy you would expect probably only from larger establishments, rooms were well equipped & clean n spacious this little gem set in Kent will definitely be on my list to visit again March 2010 I found every one very accommodating and very helpful the bar is very cosy and the real log fire added to the old country pub feeling, I would say that all the staff gave 100% to make you feel welcome. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the food in the bar/restaurant is excellent well worth the stay! March 2010 A really lovely spot, very welcoming and good food. Thanks for a lovely 3 evenings a fab village pub - Amy and Darren were great hosts and it was a great base for exploring East Sussex.
March 2010 After travelling the coast road from Brighton on a wet and chilly day, we arrived to a warm welcome from all at the Bell. A roaring fire in the pub, a warm welcome from the manager and a beautiful room with all the amenities promised. We will definitely revisit and recommend the Bell to all our friends. March 2010 A stable type building on the outside which you may not look twice at, but the inside has been very tastefully furnished and includes everything you need including a well stocked mini-bar which can come in handy when you need a little snack or liquid refreshment. March 2010 Very nice room, lovely staff, village very quiet but nice and only 2 miles from Rye. Good for romantic weekend away, Will definitely go again. February 2010 Friendly staff, comfortable room, good food - what more could we ask for? Well, we could have chosen a warmer few days, but it was early February I suppose. February 2010 Good Value at The Bell Inn , although only stayed 1 night, would recommend this small friendly Inn so close to Rye and will definitely visit again. January 2010 The young couple that run this establishment made us very welcome so did the staff and the locals, very high standard of customer service, despite 2 feet of snow the room was lovely and warm like the welcome, the food was to a very high standard as they use local and free range produce, and we will definitely be staying there again December 2009 Good, clean room, with lots of space, & acceptable shower room. Bed very comfortable. November 2009 Traditional old English pub loads of history, run by happy young couple doing great food, (you must go just to meet the dog at the bar what a character) making the effort. Room good size large double bed as in photo, mini fridge kitted out with beers and shorts chocolate, tidy modern bathroom. What more do you need avoid premier inn and try this if your near Hastings or Rye, keep Britain’s independents alive avoid the nationals you’ll feel a better person for it. November 2009 A lovely room, just right for a last minute get away, very quiet, a very high standard. November 2009 The room was great, spacious and clean. The service in the pub was friendly and efficient. the pub was fairly quiet but the people who were there were very friendly. Even the big dog that was there was a friendly character. November 2009 Lovely little pub which is jam packed with character. Very friendly and attentive staff. Room was lovely and relaxing with great facilities. It was a pleasure to stay there. October 2009 Stayed 2 nights. Great room very clean and spacious. Welcoming hosts including Dexter! Food excellent value. No hesitation in recommending this to anyone - we will return. October 2009 My daughter and I needed accommodation for one night in Kent and found this lovely little barn conversion. Basic furnishings, but cosy, clean and comfortable. A nice welcome from the pub staff and the easiest check out I've ever had. Would definitely use again. October 2009 A lovely old pub with log fire, superb home cooked food, very friendly, landlord and landlady very nice. Lovely rooms. October 2009 The accommodation was superb as was the food and the atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome by everyone - staff and customers - and both felt very relaxed. The room was well fitted out and comfortable- everything that we wanted for an overnight stay. The evening meal that we had was excellent - as was the breakfast. We would certainly stay at the Bell again. October 2009 Friendly staff. Good location either for visiting Rye and the surrounding area or an overnight stop before travelling over to France. September 2009 The Bell is a lovely country pub. Very comfortable and cosy. Friendly staff. It's on a road but very little traffic. The garden is very pretty and our room, a converted barn, was superb. Very spacious and, although in the garden, it feels quite secluded. September 2009 A true find, great value for money, friendly welcome and a lovely room. Kitchen was closed on the day we arrived (Monday) but everything else was perfect. I would highly recommend but book early as they only have 2 rooms... September 2009 Great stay from start to finish. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was impressive and immaculate. The village is pretty with fields nearby for country walks and the pub meals mean you would not even have to make the brief journey into Rye if you wanted an excellent meal. I would definitely stay here again - even the dog is friendly! August 2009 We stayed one night after a wedding in Rye. We were very surprised and pleased at the standard of this barn conversion accommodation. Very nicely decorated, comfortable and extremely clean. Staff at the pub were most helpful and friendly. No hesitation in recommending this one for a short or longer stay when in the area. August 2009 The service we received at the Bell was friendly, efficient and informal. The pub is the hub of the community and offered good quality evening meals and a very good value Sunday Lunch. We could have had breakfast there but decided not to as we wanted to get going. The stable rooms were clean and tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. August 2009 Very peaceful location, in small village. Lovely big, comfortable room and nice bathroom. Had a great evening meal in pub restaurant. Staff were very friendly. August 2009 Booked for our wedding anniversary - fantastic experience - what made it special was the customer service, the staff were fantastically welcoming, not to mention the lovely Dexter that greeted us every morning. Very friendly locals in particular Barry - wonderful gentleman that gave us some fantastic tips of where to visit - Fantastic breakfast and coffee - nothing was too much trouble. July2009 We had a lovely stay here. The room and facilities were excellent. I loved the fact that we had a separate annex to the main building which made us feel very self contained and private. The decor was very tasteful adding to a very relaxing holiday feel. I would definitely recommend The Bell at Iden for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, which is well located as a base from which to explore the local area.
