AT IDENFREE HOUSE

Located 2 miles outside of Rye, we are perfectly located for Romney Marsh, and other attractions. We are also 20 minutes drive from the market town of Tenterden, and 35 minutes drive from Ashford, where there is an outlet mall, and of course Ashford international train station, for the Eurostar.

We have two delightful letting rooms, which are separate to the pub.

The Hay Store, and Tack Room, in a converted stable block, both have;

· King sized beds, with duvets

· En suite

· Original oak beams

· Tea and coffee making facilities

· Mini bar—with the same prices as the pub

· Touch on bedside lights

· In room safe

· High power hairdryers

· Flat screen Televisions with free-view

· Dogs may bring their well behaved owners

A full English breakfast is served in our dinning room, or alfresco on our patio (weather permitting) the choice is yours! Breakfast is served from 8.45am until 9.15am

Although we have many ghost stories about the inn, there haven't been any reports of  ‘bumps in the night’ in the Bed and Breakfast rooms......yet!

What our previous guests have said:

June 2010

Loved everything about The Bell. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and very comfortable. Look forward to staying again and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. We ate 'inhouse' both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed the food.

June 2010

Great staff, good food, excellent location. Recommend. Darren and Amy are great hosts.

May 2010

Nice pub, pretty gardens, separate rooms modern and nicely furnished. Food excellent, home cooked, just what decent pub grub should be. A good place to stay overnight on the way to Dover

April 2010

We were made most welcome on our arrival and the room in a converted stable was very warm and comfortable.
The owners were most friendly and the breakfast superb-plenty to eat.

March 2010

I have stayed in a lot of hotels/guest houses  etc across the country I would rate this little country inn as one of my favourite stay's the letting rooms are set away from the pub it's self therefore giving you the privacy you would expect probably only from larger establishments, rooms were well equipped & clean n spacious this little gem set in Kent will definitely be on my list to visit again

March 2010

I found every one very accommodating and very helpful the bar is very cosy and the real log fire added to the old country pub feeling, I would say that all the staff gave 100% to make you feel welcome. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the food in the bar/restaurant is excellent well worth the stay!

March 2010

A really lovely spot, very welcoming and good food. Thanks for a lovely 3 evenings a fab village pub - Amy and Darren were great hosts and it was a great base for exploring East Sussex.
Definitely recommend to others.
Thanks Again
Lisa & Phil

March 2010

After travelling the coast road from Brighton on a wet and chilly day, we arrived to a warm welcome from all at the Bell.  A roaring fire in the pub, a warm welcome from the manager and a beautiful room with all the amenities promised. We will definitely revisit and recommend the Bell to all our friends.
The room was a little treasure in a quaint setting in a tiny village. What more could you want from a short break?

March 2010

A stable type building on the outside which you may not look twice at, but the inside has been very tastefully furnished and includes everything you need including a well stocked mini-bar which can come in handy when you need a little snack or liquid refreshment.
The setting is very peaceful and the Inn is a very friendly, welcoming place to go to at the end of the day either for a meal (had a delicious venison steak on my last evening) or just for a drink.
There is beautiful countryside to explore though we spent most of our time on this occasion in Rye which has so many quirky little museum type shops to browse around as well as a huge variety of eating places - something to suit everyone.

March 2010

Very nice room, lovely staff, village very quiet but nice and only 2 miles from Rye. Good for romantic weekend away, Will definitely go again.

February 2010

Friendly staff, comfortable room, good food - what more could we ask for? Well, we could have chosen a warmer few days, but it was early February I suppose.
It was nice and quiet, and a good base to visit local attractions like the Rye Harbour nature reserve - there is something quite bracing about the coast in February.
Dexter the pub dog was very friendly and somehow made the place busier than it actually was.
We will certainly return - hopefully when the weather is warmer.

February 2010

Good Value at The Bell Inn , although only stayed 1 night, would recommend this small friendly Inn so close to Rye and will definitely visit again.

January 2010

The young couple that run this establishment made us very welcome so did the staff and the locals, very high standard of customer service, despite 2 feet of snow the room was lovely and warm like the welcome, the food was to a very high standard as they use local and free range produce, and we will definitely be staying there again

December 2009

Good, clean room, with lots of space, & acceptable shower room. Bed very comfortable.
Food was wholesome home cooking, without the frills or cost of some up-market pubs.

November 2009

Traditional old English pub loads of history, run by happy young couple doing great food, (you must go just to meet the dog at the bar what a character) making the effort. Room good size large double bed as in photo, mini fridge kitted out with beers and shorts chocolate, tidy modern bathroom. What more do you need avoid premier inn and try this if your near Hastings or Rye, keep Britain’s independents alive avoid the nationals you’ll feel a better person for it.

November 2009

A lovely room, just right for a last minute get away, very quiet, a very high standard.

November 2009

The room was great, spacious and clean. The service in the pub was friendly and efficient. the pub was fairly quiet but the people who were there were very friendly. Even the big dog that was there was a friendly character.

November 2009

Lovely little pub which is jam packed with character. Very friendly and attentive staff. Room was lovely and relaxing with great facilities. It was a pleasure to stay there.

October 2009

Stayed 2 nights. Great room very clean and spacious. Welcoming hosts including Dexter! Food excellent value. No hesitation in recommending this to anyone - we will return.

October 2009

My daughter and I needed accommodation for one night in Kent and found this lovely little barn conversion. Basic furnishings, but cosy, clean and comfortable. A nice welcome from the pub staff and the easiest check out I've ever had. Would definitely use again.

October 2009

A lovely old pub with log fire, superb home cooked food, very friendly, landlord and landlady very nice. Lovely rooms.

October 2009

The accommodation was superb as was the food and the atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome by everyone - staff and customers - and both felt very relaxed. The room was well fitted out and comfortable- everything that we wanted for an overnight stay. The evening meal that we had was excellent - as was the breakfast. We would certainly stay at the Bell again.

October 2009

Friendly staff. Good location either for visiting Rye and the surrounding area or an overnight stop before travelling over to France.

September 2009

The Bell is a lovely country pub. Very comfortable and cosy. Friendly staff. It's on a road but very little traffic. The garden is very pretty and our room, a converted barn, was superb. Very spacious and, although in the garden, it feels quite secluded.
Unfortunately we overslept and missed dinner, but breakfast was great. Fellow guests told us that the food was wonderful. We will be back to try it.
A lovely pub in a peaceful and pretty location. Great value for money. It's also only two miles from Rye.
A smashing stay.

September 2009

A true find, great value for money, friendly welcome and a lovely room. Kitchen was closed on the day we arrived (Monday) but everything else was perfect. I would highly recommend but book early as they only have 2 rooms...
Would make a great base for a holiday and will look to return when we have more time

September 2009

Great stay from start to finish. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was impressive and immaculate. The village is pretty with fields nearby for country walks and the pub meals mean you would not even have to make the brief journey into Rye if you wanted an excellent meal. I would definitely stay here again - even the dog is friendly!

August 2009

We stayed one night after a wedding in Rye. We were very surprised and pleased at the standard of this barn conversion accommodation. Very nicely decorated, comfortable and extremely clean. Staff at the pub were most helpful and friendly. No hesitation in recommending this one for a short or longer stay when in the area.

August 2009

The service we received at the Bell was friendly, efficient and informal. The pub is the hub of the community and offered good quality evening meals and a very good value Sunday Lunch. We could have had breakfast there but decided not to as we wanted to get going. The stable rooms were clean and tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

August 2009

Very peaceful location, in small village. Lovely big, comfortable room and nice bathroom. Had a great evening meal in pub restaurant. Staff were very friendly.

August 2009

Booked for our wedding anniversary - fantastic experience - what made it special was the customer service, the staff were fantastically welcoming, not to mention the lovely Dexter that greeted us every morning. Very friendly locals in particular Barry - wonderful gentleman that gave us some fantastic tips of where to visit - Fantastic breakfast and coffee - nothing was too much trouble.

July2009

We had a lovely stay here. The room and facilities were excellent. I loved the fact that we had a separate annex to the main building which made us feel very self contained and private. The decor was very tasteful adding to a very relaxing holiday feel. I would definitely recommend The Bell at Iden for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, which is well located as a base from which to explore the local area.

 July2009

Excellent value for money. Very informal, easy-going, understated accommodation. Lovely large room, clean and comfortable, quiet village location - (Thursday evening). Good food, good service.

July2009

The perfect place for a relaxing break!
A lovely B+B in an idyllic setting just 5 minutes away (from Rye) and in the heart of the countryside, what more could you want?! Can not fault the accommodation at all. I took my partner as a surprise and he absolutely loved it too. Service was also excellent and there was a gorgeous doggy to play as well!

July2009

The Hay Loft had been converted to a lovely room, beautifully furnished & with a lovely en suite.

July2009

A little gem
Fantastic location far from the madding crowd. Lovely room with good bathroom - shower was fine but could do with updating. Staff were very polite and attentive and we had a great meal in the pub! Not too much to ask for really but it's amazing how many places fail with the simple things! Will stay at the Bell again if ever passing.

July2009

lovely stay very relaxing good breakfast

July2009

staff were welcoming and nice, the place was nice and clean, we'd stay again if we were in the area.

July2009

Darren & Amy & their staff were so friendly and welcoming, I felt at home straight away and cannot thank them enough for all that did for me during my stay. The pub is only tiny but has a lovely atmosphere, in a lovely part of the country with welcoming locals :-) and excellent homemade food. The room was clean, comfortable and very private - just what I was looking for. The only downside was that I was awake very early on both days partly due to the lack of blackout lining on the curtains - a minor thing that could be easily remedied. Highly recommended :-) and will definitely stay here again.

July2009

Good clean accommodation, good food. Amy and Darren very welcoming and friendly. Garden requires a bit of maintenance i.e. weeding etc. This would improve the overall outlook both from the sun terrace and accommodation. Have no hesitation on recommending this inn as a pleasant place to stay while exploring Sussex

July2009

Really enjoyed our one night stay in the 'barn'. Great location with Rye and Tenterden close by. Very comfortable and relaxing with good food and beer ! Will definitely stay again if in the area

June 2009

Lovely characterful converted tack room, with original beams. There are 3 rooms, all in the grounds of the Bell. The bathroom was modern and clean, with attractive fittings. Very comfortable bed. Good value at £65 for the night.

June 2009

My friend and I only stayed for one night but it was a good one! The room is large and characterful and separate from the pub but right in the large and lovely garden. The food at the pub is very good, particularly the vegetarian nut roast on the Sunday. The staff were extremely nice and helpful also and they have the most wonderful dog called Dexter as well as the occasional chicken from next door sneaking under the fence! Iden itself is also a lovely little village with easy access to Rye

June 2009

Room was very good , spotlessly clean and comfortable. Pub was quiet but very friendly with good beer , wine and food was great , biggest lamb cutlets I've ever seen. We wish the hosts good luck.

June 2009

Very charming little place......nice ground floor rooms......important since I have disabled wife.
Ample breakfast, freshly cooked etc. Very reasonable@£7.50 per head. I would raise price to £10 and then serve Proper coffee in decent size Cafetiere rather than 'instant' in cups. Also have honey/fruit available. But we had 'plenty' to eat.

Note from management: The coffee served at breakfast, is made with freshly ground coffee beans!

June 2009

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Bell. The room was in a converted barn which was lovely. Very friendly hosts.

May 2009

Second stay for us here, so it must be good , Rooms are like a little sanctuary, food in the bar is lovely. Will be back.

May 2009

I found our stay very relaxing and comfortable and would definitely stay again although we only live a few miles from Iden we could have been 100,s of miles away such was the peace and scenery.

May 2009

The accommodation at the Bell Inn is first class, spotlessly clean, quiet, very well decorated, well equipped and even has an 'in room' safe which is unusual in country pub accommodation. The joint proprietor Amy (who was on her own in the bar) was charming and could not have been more helpful. Even the locals made you feel most welcome in their pub. This is a terrific location to stay for visiting Rye, Camber, Battle, Bodiam, Tenterden or Hastings. My only adverse comment is that I found the breakfast rather sparse. My wife and I hope to return and will definitely advise others to visit the 'Bell Inn'.

May 2009

Was a bit put off by the outside of the rooms initially, as they look as described - old stable block- but as they say 'don’t judge a book by its cover', and how true is that!
Upon entering you step into a small lobby and then enter into a large spacious room with a king size bed, and spacious En-Suite, spotlessly clean and well presented.
Being disabled with Parkinson’s I found the space a complete bonus and made getting around easy, and the large bed meant that my restless sleeping did not disturb my carer but at the same time left her within reach should she be needed.
