Located 2 miles outside of Rye, we are perfectly located for Romney Marsh, and other attractions. We are also 20 minutes drive from the market town of Tenterden, and 35 minutes drive from Ashford, where there is an outlet mall, and of course Ashford international train station, for the Eurostar.
We have two delightful letting rooms, which are separate to the pub. The Hay Store, and Tack Room, in a converted stable block, both have;

A full English breakfast is served in our dinning room, or alfresco on our patio (weather permitting) the choice is yours!
Although we have many ghost stories about the inn, there haven't been any reports of ‘bumps in the night’ in the Bed and Breakfast rooms......yet!

January 2010 The young couple that run this establishment made us very welcome so did the staff and the locals, very high standard of customer service, despite 2 feet of snow the room was lovely and warm like the welcome, the food was to a very high standard as they use local and free range produce, and we will definitely be staying there again December 2009 Good, clean room, with lots of space, & acceptable shower room. Bed very comfortable. November 2009 Traditional old English pub loads of history, run by happy young couple doing great food, (you must go just to meet the dog at the bar what a character) making the effort. Room good size large double bed as in photo, mini fridge kitted out with beers and shorts chocolate, tidy modern bathroom. What more do you need avoid premier inn and try this if your near Hastings or Rye, keep Britain’s independents alive avoid the nationals you’ll feel a better person for it. The service in the pub was friendly and efficient. the pub was fairly quiet but the people who were there were very friendly. Even the big dog that was there was a friendly character. A nice welcome from the pub staff and the easiest check out I've ever had. Would definitely use again. The room was well fitted out and comfortable- everything that we wanted for an overnight stay. The evening meal that we had was excellent - as was the breakfast. We would certainly stay at the Bell again. October 2009 Friendly staff. Good location either for visiting Rye and the surrounding area or an overnight stop before travelling over to France. September 2009 The Bell is a lovely country pub. Very comfortable and cosy. Friendly staff. It's on a road but very little traffic. The garden is very pretty and our room, a converted barn, was superb. Very spacious and, although in the garden, it feels quite secluded. September 2009 A true find, great value for money, friendly welcome and a lovely room. Kitchen was closed on the day we arrived (Monday) but everything else was perfect. I would highly recommend but book early as they only have 2 rooms... September 2009 Great stay from start to finish. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was impressive and immaculate. The village is pretty with fields nearby for country walks and the pub meals mean you would not even have to make the brief journey into Rye if you wanted an excellent meal. We were very surprised and pleased at the standard of this barn conversion accommodation. Very nicely decorated, comfortable and extremely clean. Staff at the pub were most helpful and friendly. No hesitation in recommending this one for a short or longer stay when in the area. August 2009 The service we received at the Bell was friendly, efficient and informal. The pub is the hub of the community and offered good quality evening meals and a very good value Sunday Lunch. We could have had breakfast there but decided not to as we wanted to get going. The stable rooms were clean and tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. August 2009 Very peaceful location, in small village. July2009 We had a lovely stay here. The room and facilities were excellent. I loved the fact that we had a separate annex to the main building which made us feel very self contained and private. The decor was very tasteful adding to a very relaxing holiday feel. I would definitely recommend The Bell at Iden for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, which is well located as a base from which to explore the local area. July2009 Excellent value for money. The pub is only tiny but has a lovely atmosphere, in a lovely part of the country with welcoming locals :-) and excellent homemade food. The room was clean, comfortable and very private - just what I was looking for. The only downside was that I was awake very early on both days partly due to the lack of blackout lining on the curtains - a minor thing that could be easily remedied. Highly recommended :-) and will definitely stay here again. July2009 Good clean accommodation, good food. Amy and Darren very welcoming and friendly. Garden requires a bit of maintenance i.e. weeding etc. This would improve the overall outlook both from the sun terrace and accommodation. Great location with Rye and Tenterden close by. Very comfortable and relaxing with good food and beer ! Will definitely stay again if in the area June 2009 Lovely characterful converted tack room, with original beams. There are 3 rooms, all in the grounds of the Bell. The bathroom was modern and clean, with attractive fittings. Very comfortable bed. Good value at £65 for the night. June 2009 My friend and I only stayed for one night but it was a good one! The room is large and characterful and separate from the pub but right in the large and lovely garden. The food at the pub is very good, particularly the vegetarian nut roast on the Sunday. The staff were extremely nice and helpful also and they have the most wonderful dog called Dexter as well as the occasional chicken from next door sneaking under the fence! Iden itself is also a lovely little village with easy access to Rye
June 2009 Room was very good , spotlessly clean and comfortable. Pub was quiet but very friendly with good beer , wine and food was great , biggest lamb cutlets I've ever seen. Note from management: The coffee served at breakfast, is made with freshly ground coffee beans! June 2009 We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Bell. The room was in a converted barn which was lovely. May 2009 I found our stay very relaxing and comfortable and would definitely stay again although we only live a few miles from Iden we could have been 100,s of miles away such was the peace and scenery. May 2009 The accommodation at the Bell Inn is first class, spotlessly clean, quiet, very well decorated, well equipped and even has an 'in room' safe which is unusual in country pub accommodation. The joint proprietor Amy (who was on her own in the bar) was charming and could not have been more helpful. Even the locals made you feel most welcome in their pub. This is a terrific location to stay for visiting Rye, Camber, Battle, Bodiam, Tenterden or Hastings. My only adverse comment is that I found the breakfast rather sparse. My wife and I hope to return and will definitely advise others to visit the 'Bell Inn'. April 2009 Lovely quaint pub, set a few minutes' drive outside the pretty town of Rye. The two double rooms are in a converted barn next to the pub and have been done really nicely, with a cosy but modern feel. Dinner at the pub was good and overall the accommodation and food were great value. April 2009 We had a wonderful relaxing 3 day break here. Close enough to pleasant towns such as Rye and Hastings to stop you from being bored, but far enough away from anything to laze around in the serene country setting. I understand that a new heating system has been recently installed and we found it very effective (which was good news, as we happened to stay on two of the coldest days this month!!). Ate in another local pub on the first night as The Bell does not serve food on a Monday but has a pub quiz instead. Came back in time to join the quiz which was great fun! We competed against friendly locals, drinking well kept beer by a log fire and then walked away with a bottle of wine having won a round in the quiz! March 2009 My Boyfriend and I wanted a little break away and came across this lovely little Village pub. We were surprised at how nice it was, just as advertised! The rooms were warm, cosy and stylish. Everything was perfect. We ate in the pub both nights we stayed as the food was great! And the Panna Cotta was excellent! Can not fault anything about the stay. Staff were very friendly and the place is very welcoming. March 2009 Pleasant room, well equipped. Would recommend. February 2009 My second visit and thoroughly enjoyed it even though the pub shuts at 7pm on a Sunday during the winter months. We were in room 1 and although heating has been mentioned in other reviews this has been improved and if you follow the instructions within the room the heating everything should be OK Breakfast was excellent with locally sourced produce. Looking forward to staying again later in the year January 2009 Wonderful escape, room was gorgeous. Food perfect. Cannot fault anything, be back soon! January 2009 Staff were lovely, very welcoming.
